    Problem transferring Firefox profile

My older PC runs regular FF 81.0.2. Running 78.4.0esr on my new machine. Note ESR is slightly different from "regular" FF, (fewer annoying "upgrades" for one thing). I'd like to transfer all settings from reg. 81 to 78esr. Tried exporting bookmarks using html, not great (didn't set up the toolbar properly). I've tried simply copying the CONTENTS of the profile folder (XXXXXXX.default in user/appdata/local/mozila/firefox/profiles) and pasting that into the 78ESR profile after emptying it, this has worked before but didn't this time, perhaps the ESR browser files are slightly different. I've corrected the bookmarks issue in 78ESR, but I have ~300 logins saved on reg81 which I really need to add to 78ESR. Is there any way I can simply copy & paste the saved logins into the new 78ESR?

    Thanks.

You can't just copy the entire folder without editing the "profiles.ini" file to point to the profile folder. Copy everything inside the folder to the other.

Yeah basically what I do is copy the profile from the source to the destination profile folder & rename it to the existing destination profile's name. This has worked in the past, but doesn't seem to with these 2 installs, still think it might be the esr difference.
