Facebook Messenger problems after clearing computer cache.

    1) I used to be able to place the cursor over the avatar of the message sender and get a link to their profile. Not anymore after clearing the computer cache. How to get that back? I sell stuff on Marketplace and want to see the profiles of the people that contact me.

    2) 90% of Chats on the left of the screen have disappeared. I can see them from the last few days, then one from 3 weeks ago, one from 6 weeks ago, two from 9 weeks ago etc. but none for the days in between.

Using W7 and tried Chrome, Explorer and Edge. Same problem in all.

That's pretty useless, have posted there with no response and Facebook has NO customer support unless it's something that affects their revenue.

How was the computer cache cleared? I ask because some utilities are a little too assertive/aggressive in their cleansing.

Clear browsing data in Chrome settings.

That should have caused no problems at all, it's a good tool.

Clearing the cache don't causes web pages to behave differently, specially after trying different browsers (with a fresh cache each time you switch). Reloading the pages with ctrl + F5 would rule out any outdated files on your computer.

Most likely they've changed something in their site to act differently, either by a bug or a deliberate change to affect that functionality.
You'll need to ask them how and if you can get that back.

I would love to ask them but as a $800 billion company they have no technical support.

Just randomly refreshing the page changes the list of messages. For example, the first screen shot shows I have only 12 messages the last 36 weeks.

But if I refresh the page 5 or 6 times I can see much more messages.

While a little better, there are large gaps of missing messages after a week out.

And... you cleared the cache, correct? That old data is gone. The functionality should remain the same however.

I'd stay away from a Chromium-based browser and at least use Firefox. Though, in this day and age that isn't saying much. You can download and use as many versions of portable Chrome or portable Firefox as you wish. Each will have their own cache.

If you insist on sticking with a Chromium-based browser, then you might want to try Ungoogled Chromium. It has Google striped the hell out of it and I verified that while watching my network interface (NIC) for any Google traffic and found none while the browser was opened and loading my site. If you install an extension in Ungoogled Chromium then the gig is up. You're calling back to the Google mother ship so to speak. If you chose to use Ungoogled Chromium, then bookmark that link so you can stay abreast of updates.

There's another browser that is Chromium-based called Brave that touts privacy, but I highly doubt that. YMMV.

I hate to say it, but Facebook is a complete dumpster fire. The way they have that platform coded is ridiculous.
