Send To Mail Recipient Problem in Win 7

I have found that when Outlook is the default email program and I use the right-click Send To context menu to send a document to a mail recipient that nothing happens. Outlook is not started. And when I try to start Outlook, the shortcut is corrupted also until I restart my computer. However, if I set Windows Live Mail as the default email program, then the Send To Mail Recipient context menu works.

This seems to be another Windows 7 flaw. Has anyone else experienced this, or found a way to fix it?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried it without Windows Live Mail? It may be a conflict between the two mail programs, I would recommend deleting WLM and just using Outlook and see if it still happens.

I have tried uninstalling Microsoft Live Mail, but it still doesn't work when I use the right-click Send To Mail Recipient context menu to send a document to somebody through Outlook.

I have used the Default Programs utility to set Outlook as the default email program, and I have tried setting the defaults and protocols for SendTo and MAPI to Outlook. But the Send To > Mail Recipient context menu will do nothing then.

The only way I have gotten it to work is to have Live Mail installed and set as the default email program and with the access to the file types and protocols for Send To and MAPI set to Microsoft Live Mail.

However, I want to use Outlook for all email, including when I use the Send To context menu.

Did you download and install an email program? Windows 7 does not come with one. If you did and chose WLM, did you use it's options menu to set it as the default client for mail and for newsgroups?
