    Updating Internet Explorer 11 question

How to update only Internet Explorer on a W7 computer that's had Windows updates turned off for several years?

Manually check for updates on the Windows Update control panel, a long list of pending updates will appear. The IE ones are often clearly marked so you can only pick those. Depending on how long you went on without updates, it may require you to install something else, though.

Take into account that Internet Explorer is a completely obsolete browser, whose last version was in 2013. There is no reason to use it in 2021, much less to update it (which only gives bugfixes and not anything new).

Thanks, Alejandro. Crazy as it sounds, IE is still being used in NZ by several semi-governmental organizations. Motor vehicle testing, for example. In the UK they have the MOT. Our equivalent is the annual (or biannual for older vehicles) 'Warrant of Fitness', which, if not kept up to date, will cop a hefty fine.

Apparently, IE will be finally phased out in June 22, so our WOF people will be forced to run with other browsers.

The Internet Explorer 11 browser is updated almost every month when the security monthly quality rollup is released.

    Its current version is 11.0.260.

Security monthly quality rollup (KB5006743) for the 64-bit version of Windows 7 SP1 was released earlier this month.

If you've failed to update Windows 7 SP1 in your computer in several years, I'm not aware of any procedure that selectively allows you to only update Internet Explorer 11.

Internet Explorer 11 is integrated into and is a part of Windows 7 SP1.
