Why don't some web images print

I have a new HP dv7 laptop (running Win 7) and a Photosmart wireless printer. I am running into situations where some images will not print.
There seem to be three variations.
    1. My usual procedure is to place the pointer on the image I want to print. Right click and select "Print Picture". The print dialog box opens, I click "Print". Nothing happens!!
    2. I can pick a different image on the same page, using the same procedure, the only thing that prints is one text line that is the web address of the image.
    3. I can pick another image and the image will print correctly.
Bear in mind the above sequence depends on the image selected, I may never get any image to print on a page or all of the images may print, it seem to vary with the web site.
Anyone have a clue how to troubleshoot this problem.
I approached HP about this problem, they suggest using HPs web printing program, I really don't want to cut and paste images. Plus I don't really care for most HP auxiliary software.
My old reliable desktop running WinXP has never done this, I had the computers side by side, I'd select the same image on the same web site and the desktop will print to its' printer on a LTP port. The wireless HP prints nada. Is this perhaps something in Windows 7?

It would help if you stated which browser and version of the browser you are using, because then you'll get more accurate responses from folk here :)

Please understand this is my wifes machine. She learned using IE7 and Win XP on her desktop (an old P3 box) She is not computer literate and does not want to relearn how to do anything. I guess this is a Win7 or IE8 problem, I'll contact Microsoft and see if this is not a unique issue. I have contacted HP support, they suggest a different printer driver to solve the problem. I have my doubts.
