IE8
Is it possible to delete the IE8 and install IE7?
I find my laptop is freezing up and I only started using it. My girlfriend is having the same trouble and she has the exact same machine.

Lila, Welcome! Was Windows 7 and IE8 already installed on your laptop when you purchased it? Does your laptop freeze only when using IE8 or with other programs as well?
Joe
ty for the welcome
It came with the laptop and that is all I have. I do not want to install Mozilla too many updates with it and hard to learn how to use for this old gal..lol

I forgot to mention that I tried IE8 with my windows xp and it did the same thing
Try Mozilla Firefox. Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable | Mozilla Europe - It's an alternative web browser and it is better than IE.
You can disable Internet Explorer 8, but not uninstall it. To disable it, open up Programs & Features in Control Panel and click Turn Windows Features on or off. Select IE8 from the list and click OK.
It is also possible to view websites in Compatibility Mode in IE8. Just click View within IE8 and select Compatibility View (it will put a tick next to it).
please read message 3 we posted at the same time cause I did an edit
nope its any site I go in
the loader just keeps going around and around and I finally have to just close out the page to stop it
I don't think it's possible to install IE 7 in Windows 7 ..
I guess you could try Flock Browser if you use Social networking
You could get it @ Flock Browser - The Social Web BrowserFlock is a web browser built on Mozilla’s Firefox codebase that specializes in providing social networking and Web 2.0 facilities built into its user interface
Hope that helps
ok if I donwload this one and don't like it...what do I do to shut down IE8 if I end up downloading the IE7?

Oh crap I read your answer wrong...ok will try this other..tyvm
One of the first things I would recommend is to make sure you have the latest Microsoft updates. Update all your programs especially drivers.
Updating can be confusing for some of old folks, so let Windows do most of the work for you. You can also try the Driver Detective - Driver Update website.
The next thought, do you have other tool bars and EI 'add-ons' installed? Sometimes they can cause your system to hang.
Also, make sure you are running a good virus scanner. If you already have one - go ahead and run a full scan. Closely related to viruses are things like malware and Trojans. You may want to look into installing and running something like Ad-Aware by Lavasoft.
Please write back and let us know how it's going!
