A person from another forum said: “I turned off the add-ons and the culprit was something called Bonjour from HP for my scanner. Suspicious sounding name in the first place. Caused me aggravation and tons of wasted clicks over many weeks. Thanks HP! And after I liked the scanner too.”
I uninstalled Bonjour and it solved the problem. I don't get the message "Internet Explorer has stopped responding." anymore.
I gave up trying to solve the problem of "IE not working" and went to Firefox.
Had to readjust to the new browser but once done I have no problems.
Microsoft doesn't seem to care about addressing the issue.
I don't understand that it is not a Microsoft problem.
IE8 crashes with the blue screen.
Foxfire does not crash.
What ever is causing the problem impacts IE8 and not Foxfire.
Why can't MS protect IE8 like Foxfire does?
This "IE has stopped working" problem with the 32bit version has been discussed backwards and forwards, and I spent a lot of time trying to figure it out myself. All the forum suggestions have worked for some people, and not for others. Now I get it: it's different for everyone.
The thing that has everyone confused is that IE 32 bit is crashing. But it may not be the add-ons (cause it wasn't for me). And it may not have anything to do with IE itself, per se.
It could be any software or driver installed on your computer that was written before the release of Windows 7, or is somehow not completely compatible with it. The crashing of IE is probably because of some system setup or dll that they share that was changed by the old software or driver.
The thing to do is to figure out when you started having problems, and go back to the configuration of your system before that happened (a function that is offered as part of your Windows 7 OS). Do make a backup first, of course. Then you need to get an update to the culprit software or driver before installing it again.
From what I've read online, it's a different software/driver for each person.
