I get the same thing. IE 8 shuts down a lot. Every time I open it, either it shuts down immediately or sometimes it takes a few, but it shuts down and asks if I want to check online for a solution or just close the program. The top one has yet to do anything useful. My solution was to use FireFox because it doesn't shut down. I will monitor this thread and when someone finds a solution, I will use it. But, for now I am content to use Firefox.

    Action Center

go to action center go to maintenance then under check for solutions and problems go to settings and select never check for solutions this has been a source of the stalling and freezing crap in vista as well as 7 once turned off things will run much smoother

Really - I find that the solutions actually work - usually.

    Soulutions

the solutions themselves are not the problem it's the service itself seems to cause lot's of issues it's supposed to help with problems but causes them just like the RAC

OK, I did this and now IE instead of that message popping up it doesn't respond
like it should and down at the bottom left corner it says: "Error on Page"
I am still using FireFox because it works better and doesn't stop responding...
Hopefully, there will be some kind of software update to correct the problem.

You could just forget IE8 and use firefox. IE has always been slower than firefox anyway

I disabled all of the ones that I thought could cause problems. I left a couple of HP ones that have been fine in the past.

Exactly, I have a 64 bit OS, but I do not use IE 64 bit as flash is not supported.

I am using Firefox 3.5.7 and it is good. IE8 was slow on Vista, but it was faster on 7. But anything that constantly aborts at the slightest thing, I am not going to waste my time with and as quick as I can find an alternate. Voila Firefox!
