    Straightforward Bookmark Syncing

I use IE8 and FF 3.53 on w7u64. I mostly have used IE8 for the Favorites sidebar and the ability to click in the status bar to enlarge text (if I'm kicked back in my desk chair and it's inconvenient to grab the keyboard...I'm not gettin' any younger, you know...).

However, recently, I've found that FF does have a Bookmark/History sidebar and an addon which allows one to enlarge the text/page via the icon bar. This goes a long way in providing greater usability in FF, but I likely will still use both.

So, the question is, how to keep Bookmarks/Favorites (maybe including the Favorites/Bookmark bars?) between the two in sync without having to resort to the programs that use online servers to accomplish it? Sorry, but I really don't care to do that.

Isn't there some syncing solution that works well and allows one simply to locally maintain synchronization without allowing a 3rd, off-site-online party to do so for you?

Anyone? There's no way to sync, or at least delete firefox bookmarks and import IE bookmarks without it becoming an HTML file that one has to click on every link and re-bookmark it?

Since right now, I'm using both browsers, this would be quite useful. There must be a way, right?

    Hi James!

Have a look at BookmarkBridge. It is a small, easy to use, multi-platform, GUI-based utility that allows the user to share bookmarks between all their browsers.

The user runs it periodically to synchronize between the browsers.

BookmarkBridge is an open source project, which means you can download it and use it free of charge.

    Hope this helps you.

I think James Colbert is specifically looking for something that doesn't use online servers.:)

BookmarkBridge does not require you to be online to use it.

Thanks for your responses, swarfega & V3xar. You are correct, V3xar, in that I don't want to use online syncing. I have downloaded BookmarkBridge and will be trying it.

    Thanks again for your responses.
