Microsoft Outlook Question

Hey folks I use Microsoft Outlook and am now on an open/unsecured network and it wont send any of my emails but it will recieve my messages, is there any setting (and how do I go about it) that will let me send emails?

If you have changed networks it's possible your security settings are preventing access to your SMTP server.

Have a look in Tools > Account Settings... > Email tab, then double-click on the account in question. Click on More Settings... (near bottom right of window) then go to the Outgoing Server tab. Uncheck "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" and then hit OK, then Next, then Finish, then Close.

Then try sending again...

It was already set that way you suggested, any other suggestions?

Maybe you are trying to send through a different network; in that case you'll need to make sure your SMTP server matches the ISP you are trying to send through. It wouldn't affect your incoming mail but could prevent outgoing. Have you changed to a different service provider, or moved the machine to a different connection going through a completely different network?

yes i did and i figured it would just be automatic on sending emails

OK then you'll need to check with the new ISP what their SMTP server address is and enter that in the account settings. Let me know if there are any problems with that, but hopefully you should be sending again :)
