IE8 did the best job of fending off attacks from 492 malware-distributing websites, blocking 69% of attacks

Firefox blocked 30% of malware attacks but I still Love Her and her Add-ons.

Best defense against that comes from the user not the browser, I mainly use firefox 3.1 b3 but when i feel like something fancy(and don't mind it sucking up all the memory) i use safari.

Why do you consider using safari as "fancy"?

I think he is referring to Safari 4, it is quite a nice layout (Firefox with tiny menu does not even compare) and things like the start page with 12 frequently visited pages, the development tools etc. make it a rather elegant browser.

With regards to the malware detection, good on IE however I'm with YupYup

I am comfortable with IE8 and use FF3 occasionally.

Safari 4 is certainly a lot more attractive than it's predecessor.

I go for IE8 -- mainly because I like the Web Query functionality built in to EXCEL so I can download things like Stock Quotes etc which update automatically.

AFAIK other "Non Microsoft browsers" don't have this extremely useful function built in to operate seamlessly with excel.

Downloading "Real Time" data into a spreadsheet and updating it immediately is of far more use to me than all the "Zillions of add-ons" (aka "Bloatware") of other applications.

I really don't like things like RSS feeds etc etc. I prefer to "source my own data" and then just use simple things like the web query functionality to update my data.

For example current components of London FTSE 100 ("The Footsie")

Also works in Office 2000, Office XP and Office 2003 if you have those back editions.

cheers

jimbo

not quite the same but nice when you can use it, and it's for most browsers.

This firefox addon is about as close to the safari feature as you can get. Only problem is that it is only for content you allready have open.
