Super; thanks. I did email Microshaft to ask them to please bring back Outlook Express. No reply, uffcaws. I may be able to move the folder to my son and have him convert to CSV or WAB. Now asking him.

I tried to bring that file of Windows Mail (from Vista, originally) into XP but that won't work. Guess I'll take it back to Staples and see if they can import it into a Vista machine and then export as CSV or WAB, or both.

Can't you just copy the .contact files to C:\Users\yourlogin\contacts
Then in WLM, open Contacts, and go to File - Import - Addressbook for current user

Shawn, thanks for that. Problem is, Vista is GONE with the lappy; it crashed and is unrepairable. All I have is a folder which I made a few weeks before it crashed. It contains all the email addies, but not in WAB nor CSV format.

Hmmm; I see that, Computersplus, but not how to use it. I entered one email addy but it was wrong somehow. Plus, I have 800+ of them to do.

If they are saved as .contact files then you can use the tutorial to import them directly into Windows Live Mail after you copy them into your C:\Users\(user-name)\Contacts folder.

Hi, Brink; that DID work after I messed with it awhile. MOST of the names are somewhat garbled though. I had always kept them with Christian name first, followed by Surname. Now the Christian names are missing. BUT, hey, that's better than nothing!

    THANKS

You're welcome. I'm sorry to hear that they didn't import completely intact, but I suppose that you could always add those back in your spare time here and there.
