    firefox package

when i first registered with sevenforums there was a thread about packaging firefox with all of it's add-ons and tweaks. i cannot find it now, so i will start a new thread. like a lot of firefox users i have several add-ons installed. i have also made several tweaks in about:config. what i would like to know is there any way after i have installed all of my add-ons, set my preferences for them, and done my about:config tweaks if i can package this setup so when i have to install firefox again i can simply click the installer, install and be good to go? this way i would not have to go get the add-ons again or do all my tweaks every time i do a reinstall.

I don't have this issue at all. Every time a new version of FF comes out, I simply download it (usually through FF's update function), install it and everything is preserved. Its worked that way for quite some time now.

what issue? i did not say nor imply that i was having problems. once every 6 months i reinstall windows. i wipe my c drive at least 3 times and do a fresh install of everything. i would like to be able to simply package ff, my add-ons, and my tweaks so when i go to install it in the freshly install os i do not have to reinstall all of my add-ons and preform all of my tweaks.

I did a very quick Google search, skimmed over this result and believe it contains what you want:

Create Custom Firefox And Thunderbird Installations

Why not use portable firefox it does exactly what you want I have been using it over 3 yrs now all my config & addon options remain intact & I can use any amount of copy on any computer, I even carry one on my usb pen drive when I am out on road.

looks like that addresses the add-ons. it takes a copy of ff that has not been installed yet and adds the add-ons, however it is not what i am looking for. i would still have to set my preferences for each add-on and manually do all of my tweaks. i am looking for something that will either look at my current ff install and package it all for me or something that will walk me through packaging my current install.

is the current portable version 3.6? if it is then this should solve my problem. i could keep it up to date, and when i reinstall windows copy it to the program files folder and create a desktop shortcut. not exactly what i wanted, but an alternative i can live with. plus i get to take my browser setting with me. thanks.

In that case, use the add-on FEBE. Its a FF back-up application. It backs up everything: profiles, bookmarks, etc. When you do the new install, install FEBE, then recover from your back up file and you are done.
