    Copy/Paste Issue

    When IE7 launched MS had changed something to stop the user copy/pasting in urls in this format.

    hXXp://username : password@www.anysite.com/members

    Now this was fixable by a reg file and worked in IE7+IE8 in XP+Vista 32+64.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_HTTP_USERNAME_PASSWORD_DISABLE]
    "iexplore.exe"=dword:00000000
    "explorer.exe"=dword:00000000

    I cannot however get it to work in Windows 7 (64bit unsure on 32bit).

    Do you get an error when you attempt to paste?

    Yes, same as years ago before Reg undid MS nasty fix.

    You get a small Windows called Address Bar and a MSG saying Windows cannot find (the sites name) and to check spelling and try again.

    Did you do the HKCU (current user) one as well?

    I just thought of something. If you are on 64 bit, you probably need to add the QWORD values instead of DWORD values. And try it in the 32 bit version of IE.

    I tried adding to current user as I am on UAC account in Win 7 64 (could be reason but I tried it OFF)

    On Vista 64 I am ADMIN and it worked on it.

    IE is 32bit by default.
