I'm not sure if this is a Windows or a Firefox thing, but I would like to disable these mouse-over text boxes that appear in Firefox. I have looked all over and can't figure out how to turn them off. Any help would be appreciated.
When you hover your mouse cursor over various UI elements, a tooltip will often be displayed with descriptive text. This preference determines whether or not Mozilla will display tooltips. Possible values and their effects True
Show tooltips for toolbar buttons, bookmarks, web content, and other items. (Default) False Hide all tooltips.
Mozilla Suite and SeaMonkey The checkbox “Show Tooltips” under “Edit → Preferences → Appearance” toggles this preference between true and false.
Mozilla Suite (all versions since 0.6)
Mozilla Firefox (all versions)
SeaMonkey (all versions)
That is for the Firefox toolbar tooltips. That will not disable the hover tooltips on the page.

I noticed a small 'disable' inside these annoying little boxes...so I clicked on it and it opened a box that let me disable it. IT IS A WINDOWS 7 thing. Good luck!

I got the same problem. Not just on firefox, but also on windows 7, and yes you are right it is a windows 7 thing. Although, I don't see that disable thing.

I have a problem with the text in some boxes being to small to read (see picture) I have searched the internet for a solution without any luck. The text that is small is the one in the box the box that appear if you for example right-click an icon on the desktop av select properties....

For some reason, the text is not showing up in the dialog boxes, which makes it impossible to download software unless you have a VERY good memory about where the "Next" button is. The buttons show, but absolutely no text. Anyone had this problem? Is it the registry? A driver? It just started when...
