Windows XP No IE9 For You!!!!

Earlier this month a repesentive for microsoft has said that IE9 either beta and the final release will not run on Windows XP. They have said IE9 needs to be modern and therefore needs a modern Operating System (Note IE9 requires Vista SP2 or later). So whats XP users going to do? This is the same as WMP12 M$ won't set WMP12 to run on XP. So XP user's are going to be stuck with IE8 and WPM11 Microsoft are now saying they might drop Windows Defender for XP.

How Old is M$ Windows XP there's been only two other OS's after XP. 7 in 2009, Vista in 2007 and XP in 2005. XP is not all that old.

It's a 10 year old OS and in computer terms is ancient, Windows ME is only a little bit older so do you think MS should still be supporting that?

Windows ME was junk it wasn't supported for very long because it had flaws and was only a temp OS before XP. It's 2010 and XP came out in 2005 It's only 5 years old. That's why many people have it.

we have XP on windows 7 computers today because of the VM stuff, so it's still used

Sorry but you are wrong Windows XP was retailed October 25, 2001 and if you include the beta phase "Whistler" then it's 10 years old.

Oh dear, just where shall I start.

Longhorn was the beta code name for Vista

Whistler was the beta codename for XP

I suggest you do a little reading up -

    Umm Here We are.

Windows longhorn was an OS after Windows XP to be released in 2003. But after virus attacks in XP/2000 Micrsoft changed their plans and put Longhorn on hold. and created service packs and bug fixes for XP/2000. In 2005 Microsoft restarted Longhorn project and was renamed Windows Vista in 2006 and the Codename for vista is longhorn. thats what happened there. so there was a gap between 2001 and 2007 when Vista was released.

    Now I understand what's happened.

    2001 - Windows XP
    2007 - Windows Vista
    2009 - Windows 7
