With the capabilities of even the newer low end model video cards compared to years back when everyone ran a single core cpu you can see some immediate benefits. The test drives show a good deal of what is being pointed to as far as presenting animations of how the graphics will work in the demos JMH linked earlier.

The only drawback for IE 9 is that will require at least Vista if not since XP is not on the supported list. That will leave those still running the older version out of the loop so to speak. But that's progress! When you want any you have to move forward not backward to get there.

Sounds pretty intriguing to me, I'll give it a try once it hits the beta stage.:) But what really gets me excited is that other browsers might jump this bandwagon; it'll be interesting to see how Mozilla, Google, Apple, etc. will use this feature and make their browsers even better!

I was also glad to hear it wasn't going to hit XP. Like Nighthawk said, you have to move forward, not backward for progress!

ARGH! i can already see what will happen... i will try it out, and completely miss all of the greatness because ill be obsessing over stupid little things, like the damn stupid condensed toolbar at the top... but thats just me, im sure it will be great, but i can't see it making me switch

If opening a new tab is faster in IE9, I would be most pleased. An additional expectation is that better stability when more add-ons are added.

    You just made my day.

I don't know which STAY ON TOPIC forum regimes you are accustomed to, but if you plan on visiting this forum regularly - you'll either have to learn to adapt to the horror and travesty of daring to go OFF-TOPIC, otherwise you'll be in a permanent state of conniption.

You see, going off-topic is not considered a crime on this forum.

Granted, my input re the original topic has been nil up to this post - but I do disagree with you on the 'brought noting' aspect - I have elucidated you on this forums etiquette.

That in itself is far more educational than any subjective opinion I have about this exciting and advantageous forthcoming technology.

If you still feel that I am 'trolling', then at least do me the courtesy of replacing phrases like 'simply a troll with a more apt description such as 'a successful troll'

    helmutcheese,
We all have opinions which we are free to express.
There is no need for inflammatory name calling.
In future you'd do better to

If IE9 changes the web forever that would be a first for Microsoft. If Microsoft has proved anything over the years it's that it's solidly behind the curve for web technologies.

The thing is is that right now these features are all well and advanced, but by the time IE9 is released (1 year, right?), I'm sure all the other browsers will have caught up. IE's development cycle is very slooooow compared to Firefox and Chrome.

Also what if there is no GPU? Won't you have problems if you have an integrated graphics card? (Not me though)

@ JMH, You do not tell anyone here to zip it !

I have 1 big mouth Troll posting at me personally, nothing to do with IE9.

That is not a topic for this thread !

Then 2 or 3 other big mouths join in again posting absolutely nothing about IE9.

The topic is about IE9 and I inputed on IE9 before the Troll awoke and yes I will call him that.

    Where are the Mod's ?

P.S, I can paste in stats too :
