    Looking for advice and idea's...

    Hello all,

I've got a friend that has a small business office.
He had 2 computers both running Windows XP and hooked up to the internet/LAN via the wireless router.

One of the computers he will use, and the other his secretary will use.

He would like his email setup in such a way that he would recieve emails for andy@hiscompany.com and info@hiscompany.com to his computer and only info@hiscompany.com to the secretaries computer.

I have thought about having one of the email clients (both on Outlook) leaving the mail on the server so that when it retrieves the mail, it would leave it their for the other to retrieve... However I then realised that if the one that is setup not to leave it on the server retrieves it first, then the other won't be able to retrieve it.

I hope I'm clear in what he needs...

What would be the cheapest solution here?

Any thoughts, or comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,
      My Computer

For info@hiscompany.com, have both clients 'leave on server'.

In addition to checking "Leave on server", also check "Remove from the server after .... days" on the computer you want to delete the server mail from. You can specify a reasonable period like 7 days. If your friend and his secretary are a serious company, they would have downloaded and attended to the mail before that.

If you have access to the server, and the server has forwarding available, then simply have two mailboxes, one for each user (andy@hiscompany.com and alice@hiscompany.com). Then set up a forwarder to send the email for info@hiscompany.com to both Andy and Alice.

Unless there is a need to share a mailbox, this should eliminate any potential for stepping on each other.

PS - You may also be able to do auto responding to send a "We are looking into it" message.
