    IE8 crashes

    Hello again.

Noticed another thing. After a clean install, IE8 works fine. But when you start installing Skype or Windows Live Messenger, they add a couple of add-ons in IE and then the crashes start. I open google as my homepage, IE crashes.
I open anything as my homepage, IE crashes (btw, it has a nice feature of trying to re-open the crashed page 2 times, then it stops trying giving you an error)

The solution to that was to disable the add-ons of skype and msn.Don't know if it has problems with other add-ons, but the same thing happened to 2 of my PCs that I installed Windows 7.Right after msn and skype installation.

Another problem I found, is that some antivirus programs, (particularly Avira Antivir Personal Edition Free), which worked fine in Vista, when installed, it blocks all the downloads!
When the download finishes, it doesn't let it to be written/copied on the hard disk from the temporary files.Happened to all the downloads and crashed IE in every page that was an image (e.g. google). Removing it solved it, I hope it's just this particular antivirus that does this.

    Regards,

I am running 6801 with *both* WLM 89 Beta and Skype 4.0.0.169 Beta without any issues. Did you allow for the Skype Plugin for IE / Firefox? Those have *never* played nicely on any machine I have tried them on and thus I disable the installation of both every time....

Well, I didn't actually cross-check to see if it's msn plugin or skype plugin. Besides my skype is not the beta version, it's the previous one so this one might cause the problem, or not at all, it might be msn. Anyway I don't need those IE plugins.
However, in 6956 the problem is gone... (?)

I read somewhere that non-beta Skype works poorly on W7

well , its official. Skype is not compatible with IE8.

This is what IE8 shows when you first open it, after you have installed skype.

Though you can just disable the IE8 addon. Skype works fine so far on Windows 7, except with this incompatibility of the IE addon.

Wrong. It is not *Skype* it is the Skype IE plugin - which I mentioned above.

I have never gotten either plugin to work in either of the browsers, so I disable them from being installed every time I install Skype.

I was having problems with IE8 crashing in Vista and the 6801 build. Not having any problems in 6956 so far, knock on wood.

Indeed, only in 6956 IE8 detects itself the incompatible plugin...
