IE8 no longer present in "All Programs" list

    Hi

On a brand new i5 based machine with pre-installed W7, i performed Windows / Microsoft update, succeded by a browser choice (I stay on IE8 until further requirements dictates otherwise).

    Then i created recovery discs.
Just after that, I discovered that IE8 icons had dissapeared from both Taskbar and "All Programs" list.

Using "Start" and typing "Internet Explorer", i can start the 32 bit version of IE8.
Great - so the code is still in there and the program works !

But each time I start IE8, it tells me that it's not the default browser.
I try to say YES to allowing it as default, and it claims to have done so.
    - - but at next startup it asks again - -

The 64bit version of IE8 has also disappeared from All Progrms list ect.

So here are my three questions :
    1 - how can I set IE8 as default browser - in a way so it doesn't forget ?
    2 - how can i make IE8 re-appear in the "All Programs" list ?
3 - how can I make the 64bit version re-appear in the "All Programs" list ?

Does anyone know remedies to this decease ?

Hello Slindeneg, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You can right click on the desktop, click on New and Shortcut to create new shortcuts using the exact locations in bold below. Afterwards, move them in the Start Menu All Programs area to restore them.

    Internet Explorer
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

    Internet Explorer (64-bit)
    "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
