    IE8 and Jumplist

Is the jumplist thingy only doable for the IE8 icon in the taskbar if one clicks a saved link which resides on the HD? Somehow I got the impression that it should be populating the jumplist with sites visited within the browser, which would then give the option of course to pin them to the list. Anyrate, neither way works for me. In other words, no population of link period in my IE8 jumplist. Any ideas?

Rarely, maybe once a week. I do use InPrivateFiltering though. I can't figure this one out. All other jumplist work well, it's just IE8.

Do you have this un-checked maybe? You have to have it checked for recent (frequent) jumplist lists to work. If you have it checked and it's just IE8, maybe reset IE8, see if it helps.

what is Custom Destinations folder? It comes and goes. Most times it will not show up in the Recent items folder but every now and then I can right click something on the taskbar to bring up a jumplist and it(Custom Destinations folder) will magically pop into the Recent items folder. I can open it(Custom Destinations folder) up and the there are jumplist items inside. When the folder is active/open, I can click an empty space in the address bar and the path of Custom Destinations is preceeded by a folder that now says Recent instead of Recent Items. I can then hit the up button once and explorer will navigate back to the Recent Items folder which now has the mysterious Custom Destination folders excluded. Am I on to something or just chasing rabbits?

Nevermind: I decided on a hunch to delete all the entries in Customdestination folder and whoopee, the IE8 jumplist history popped right up, Go figure, lol

OK Nevermind the Nevermind above. I'm back to where I started from. The only jumplist entries in IE8 were some htm files opened up in explorer. I deleted them and am now left with this(first pic) for IE8 jumplist

I'm now going to restore the deleted CustomDestination with screenshot below

From that pic(second pic) you can see that I lost the Tasks heading in the jumplist. This is getting kinda bothersome now. Sorry about the pic arrangment. Something went haywire with the upload and attachment.

Well restarting IE8 did add the Tasks heading back but still no IE8 jumplist
Is it possible I have it turned off somewhere else other than the taskbar properties? Now I'm back to square one. If I visit a site such as Seven forums, is the visit to this site suppose to populate the IE8 jumplist?

Custom Destination folder in the jumplist? Don't think I'm familiar with that. Why don't you post a screenshot of it.

    Did you ever reset IE8?

Not yet. CustomDestinations can be accessed by typing it into the address bar. In the Recent folder, I have CustomDestinations and AutomaticDestinations

    I see.

I would maybe try resetting it. Also you might try closing IE and uncheck the tick boxes I mentioned in the first post Apply-OK. Then re enable them Apply-OK. See if that does anything. Go to a few websites and see if the list populates.

Other than that, Myself I don't know why it's not working. Maybe some other settings been disabled that applies to it I'm not aware of.

I thought maybe I had disabled something in Group Policy just for IE but when I filter it, nothing shows up. I'll keep plugging at it.
