    Firefox 3.1 beta 2

    Private Browsing Comes to Firefox

    December 8, 2008 - 5:23 pm PDT - by Adam Ostrow 9 Comments

Mozilla has just launched Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 for download. The most notable new feature is probably private browsing mode, which lets you browse without having any of your Web history stored locally.

In a blog post, Mozilla indicates that this is “perfect for online holiday shopping!” but you can probably think of some less savory reasons you may want to use such a feature. The developer who designed private browsing for Firefox has shared some details about how it works and how to use it.

Nice now that means google cant track me...lol
    j/k....

i already have it so that once i close FF (i believe during 5hr period close it at least 10 times.... not including shutdowns...lol)all information that can be identifiable to me gets deleted...

but hey as long as they make it easier for the main user WITHOUT slowing down the program is a good thing in my book...lol

Yeah, I was using Giorgio's FlashGot when he started working on NoScript - I was an early adopter as well. I cannot pinpoint the version number but I can pinpoint the date - as I have original emails that I sent to him about issues I ran into...as well as a couple of UI suggestions that made the final cut and are still there....

    > You may not recognize this address, as I am one of probably *many* people who write to you, but I have a couple of things to ask, 2 to point out, and some general commentary.
    >
    > First of all, regarding FlashGot, thanks for a great extension while it lasted. I say this as I am not about to pay again for use of your extension to work with DAP, which I paid for (both v 5 and v 7) seeing as it now has limited support for Fx browsers natively anyway. However, I must say that your implementation of the extension is superb, and I highly believe that the Fx dev team should take some lessons from your extension in developing Fx 1.x

    > The points I wanted to make are as follows:
    >
    > 1) In the FlashGot section of your web page, Navigating to "Features" and the 'Download Managers' section sows the blurb you have made regarding DAP users, but the link is incorrect - you point to FAQ 3_5 whereas is should be pointing to 5_3.
    >
    > 2) This is probably simply an oversight, but on the main page for IA, under open source, I am shocked to see that there is no mention of No Script - although, as I mentioned this is probably an oversight, or else you simply haven;t had time to add it in to the main page as you have been actively developing it....;-0

    > Commentary:
    >
    > Regarding No Script, as I commented in the MZ thread, thank you thank you thank you for enabling this on-the-fly use of JavaScript. I have benefited much from it and am quite happy that you are *actively* developing it.
    >
    > Regarding your blog about you, I have to commend you on your English - being an Indian (born and raised in the US but with a very strong educational background) and living in the US, I shudder at times when I hear people around me talking, or read their writing, and in general it scares me that the lack of education in the US is proliferating at an alarming rate. However, your English was damn near perfect, including the use of some slang, and I say Kudos to you - you have absolutely *nothing* to apologize for.
    >
    > Questions: I am sure I can ask these in the forums, but since I have you here....
    >
    > 1) Any chance of a temporary allowing of JavaScript (a one time shot) / Session enabled? I like the idea of enabling JS on-the-fly, but to prevent problems from DNS poisoning / URL spoofing / domain name pirating I think a per-session setting would be wonderful....
    >
    > 2) Any chance for configurability regarding the sounds that are used / colors that are used when placing the JS warning at the top of the page? the color scheme I am using is a very dark one, and it does not go well with the dark red coloring of the warning (you can visit the following link, but I warn you - the file is large, as I run 1600 X 1200 resolution.... http://s88013406.onlinehome.us/MyCurrentDesktop.jpg )
    >
    > That's all for now. Thanks again for having vision and foresight to develop these little apps.
    >
I only quoted the email I sent to him as I never got confirmation back from him that I could quote him - but the boldfaced item he said was second on his to do list....

Also, note that I was most likely not the original requestor for this - I just happened to make a request and it appeared as a feature in NoScript....

I had no issues when I was using it - I went back to a minefield 3.1b3pre release now - but HoTMaiL also works in there....

Have you tried safe mode? Perhaps you have an extension incompatibility....

Ahhh, this new HoTMaiL interface is probably the cause....
