    Windows Live Mail unrequested syncing

I have 4 Windows Live Mail email accounts on my primary Windows 7 Ultimate computer that Sync at random times causing mail to be removed from the server, which prevents viewing of mail when I'm away from the primary computer and using my netbook.

When I intentionally sync accounts on the primary computer I, do, want the messages to be removed from the server, so I don't want to select " Leave a copy of Message on Server" under advanced account options.

I do not have any boxes checked under "Send/Receive Messages" in the general options, so there should not be any automatic syncing unless requested.

Is there something that I am missing?

    Thanks,

    Bob

Thanks, Bill. I'm hoping that there will be a fix so that I won't have to go into each account every time I want to download and select "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing." I switch back and forth frequently between WLM and MailWasher, which takes me directly to WLM when requested. Unfortunately, WLM downloads some email before Mailwasher can process it.

"Check for new messages..." should also be unchecked, in addition to "send/receive messages at startup". If those are both unchecked but it still downloads email, hence removing it from the server, there must be a serious bug in WLM. I haven't noticed it yet since I'm using the older Windows Mail as my main email downloader and the WLM program is on another computer that is set "leave messages on server".

It sounds like the original poster in the link Bill provided solved his problem: https://www.sevenforums.com/752634-post11.html . Also, you may not have to 'fix so that I won't have to go into each account every time I want to download and select "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing' ". If you show the menu bar at the top and choose one of the "Tools...sync" options, that should download what you want when you want. In fact that is exactly what I've been doing for years with Vista's Windows Mail and before that Outlook Express. So the solution may simply be uncheck "include this account..." in each account setup and leave it that way.

Thanks, Roncerr. Your thoughts led me to some workaround ideas.

I can uncheck "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing," on the one account that I care about most. I discovered that I can still sync this account when desired by using the inverted delta located next to the sync button on the toolbar, and selecting that account for sync. It would be easier if F5 would download all accounts, including unchecked accounts, but it performs the same function as the sync button. Any account that is unchecked for "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing," won't sync with the F5 key or the sync button.

Another solution would be to leave all accounts checked for "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing" and close WLM after each use. Until now I was only minimizing WLM, which allowed immediate viewing instead of a 3 second lag to re-open. With this solution, I can put back the checkmark next to "Send and receive messages at startup." In my case, I have MailWasher to notify me of new mail and wash the mail before opening WLM. With WLM closed, I won't have to worry about missing mail when I'm mobile due to a WLM download from my desktop.

Hopefully, there will be an update fix for the WLM bug at some point.

    Thanks, again.
