    E-mails-Internet Explorer links

Can someone possibly help with this issue-When looking at my e-mails and there is a link which l can click on which should take me straight to that link or site on Internet Explorer, many times Internet Explorer page comes up but nothing shows and the only way to get out of the site as the red X will not close the window is to click onto one of the other ones to go back to e-mail.
Have l somehow got a broken link although am not getting any error messages.

Try another browser, chrome or firefox is nice

in lieu of that try to

click on tools>interenet options>advanced>reset. This removes all addons, there may be a conflict.

    Thanks for that.
Used to use Firefox when had Vista but with Win 7 have stayed on IE8.
Have tried all you have suggested re tools etc.
It does not happen all the time just when inconvenient so will investigate Tools again.
Cannot give you a star as this is my first post and when l tried a message said l did not have enough posts. So sorry!

Your kindeness and desire to give rep is more than enough; just hope that your OS works well.

After you've recovered try going back to the problematic link in the email, right-click and choose "copy shortcut". Then paste it into the browser's address bar and see if the problem happens again or often. It may just be a bad website. By the way, from a security standpoint you should not click on links in email unless you're sure you can trust the sender and you're sure who the sender is (i.e. not a spoofed "from" address.)

I just posted same problem grief

Same problem - Driving me crazy - cannot even answer a YAHOO fellow member's posts.

As far as links, I CAN copy and paste or even drag the link to the address bar and it does go to the link.. Verified sites are good - links fail regularly

Same problem as Schnauzer's (We have one of those that rules the house)

    SAME link-loss with Firefox, BTW - It's a Windoze problem.. :-(

    ANYONE FOUND A SOLUTION??

Schnauzer hasn't posted back since she said he was going to use the Tools option to reset IE over 2 months ago, so maybe that fixed it for her. It could also be your email program or a problem with the set up of your default programs for email or browsing.

    Re e-mail and link problem

So sorry l did not get back to you or the Site but have been so involved with other things the Computer takes 2nd place as l will NOT let it rule me or mine.
Do not ask me how l managed to fix the problem but l did follow your advice and somehow it is fine now.
Turned out to be my Anti Virus system not so much a Windows 7 issue although l did contact Microsoft which is a hassle at the best of times as l really feel l am talking to a bunch of people who obviously think you are some kind of idiot contacting them-they designed the system so they should know?
To the other person who has the same issue try to check your anti-virus or whatever you use to see if that will help and also follow the directions given to me as that did actually help considerablly.PS-l am not a 'GUY' but a 'GAL' and YES we too can use Computers quite efficiently.

    Failed links still a problem.

Well, have tried all that has been suggested, but I am relegated to clicking "properties" for the link, copying the URL and pasting it for at least 40% of the links. - (Studying them does not reveal any obvious commonality). - I had to do that last night on my Medicare account - clicked on a needed link - the tab popped up, as usual, and stayed forever on "connecting..", so HAD to cut-and-paste!

In fact - every non-working link DOES do exactly that and "cut and paste" does work, so it is internal to 7 (with any browser)

Sorry I've been away - not from a solution here. but from a procedure with another "solution" - the kind that takes drinking 4 liters of obnoxious stuff, if you get my drift..

In the default programs window, the last item on the bottom (computer defaults) has a "custom" section: select IE for the browser and Windows Live Mail for mail (if they are your choices and are listed there), not "use current". That sometimes clears up default programs issues.
