    Recycle bin

In Windowslive hotmail why do the subfolders in the Sent box not allow me to show who the email is sent to?

i'm not quite sure what you mean, jenny,

do you mean the hotmail website, or the program windows live mail?

and why title the thread 'recycle bin'?

    Windows livemail

Sorry - I'm new to this and didn't realise I was still with the recycle heading. I like to organise my mail into interest areas. No problem with the subfolders in the Inbox - they have the same options for ordering but the Sent box subfolders do not allow you the SENT option so they don't have the name of the recipient - just the sender - which is me!

    Does that make sense?

    Cheers

    Jenny

ok - that explains it well.

i've just tried this myself, but i can't even work out how to get subfolders into my sent items folder.

    sorry for the zero help!

maybe someone else will be along soon who may know about this.

It works the same in WLM as it did in OE or WM. Put a message in the subfolder in order to see the column names. Right click on any column name and select "columns..." Then check the "To" box to create a column for the name of the person to whom you sent the message. Uncheck the column names you don't need and use the move up or down controls to put the column names in the order you want. (The "sent" column is for the date sent.)

    ^^ I agree.

I my OO, I right click on any of the column, select view settings. Then click on column and select the fields to be shown. In this area, you can select recipient so, you can view which mail is sent to whom.

i got myself confused with this one - i though the OP was referring to windows live hotmail website, and not the installable software windows live mail.

easy enough to get the two mixed up...

It's interesting (to me at least) that you can do this with WLM but you can't do it using the Hotmail web app. However, by default, the Hotmail web app has the "To" column as the 1st column.
