Using Windows 7 (64 bit), IE 8 with both 32 and 64 bit. I have several sites open with IE 8 64 bit.
How do I open a site/program with IE 8 32 bits which I know only works in 32 bits?
If I have a site open with IE 8 32 bits and another instance of IE 8 in 64 bits, how do I select in which browser IE 8 to open a site/shortcut/program?

roncerr, both versions come preinstalled. If you don't see both, you can turn them on in programs and features.
philav, can you provide a specific example of what you are trying to do? Three different things entered my mind at once, so I want to know exactly what you are wanting to do so don't waste either of our time.

I have 64 bit IE open with home page and a few news sites. OK. But, I want to get weather with weather radar. Weather radar uses Flash which only works with 32 bit. So, what do I do when I select the weather icon in Quicklaunch so the weather page will open in 32 bits and the radar will work? Also, major league baseball site, with animation, does not work in 64 bits. Same question here.
Right now I go to START, PROGRAMS, select IE 64 bit and home page opens and I go from there. OK. Then to get weather or baseball again I go to START, PROGRAMS, select 32 bit IE; home opens up then I have to select weather and baseball from FAVORITES for them to open in the 32 bit browser. Opening these from another shortcut or history will open them in 64 bit. They don't work here.

You can pin both versions to the task bar and if right-clicked, should show the sites you visit most often with each, so you can go straight to that site. I see you used the term "quick launch". Did you turn the old style quick launch back on, or were you referring to the new taskbar?
I was going to suggest manually prefixing your 32bit favorites with "c:/Program Files (x86)/Internet Explorer/iexplore.exe"
Example being google.com...
but I just tested that, and IE reprefixes it with http:// so it becomesCode:"c:/Program Files (x86)/Internet Explorer/iexplore.exe" "http://www.google.com"

It will work if you make them desktop/taskbar shortcuts, but not favorites inside IE8.
Edit: Ok, I just tried something else. Create those shortcuts on desktop. Rename it to Google32, then move them to 'C:\Users\username\Favorites
This will now appear in your favorites folder in IE8 as Google32.
Edit2:Clicking on it, will open 32bit IE8 and go to google. But because it is calling IE, it will open in a new window regardless of it you click it from 32 or 62bit IE.
If you want to, make another and remove the " (x86)" forcing it to open IE8 64bit, and go to the URL.
I played around and came up with this: I pinned both IEs to the taskbar. So by selecting each I can open one IE each. I put baseball and weather in favorites so I can select it for my 32 bit IE icon in taskbar and select other stuff from anywhere else in 64 bit IE. If I come upon anything else that won't work in 64 bits I'll open in 32 bits. Anything I'll use alot I'll put in Favorites. I have a folder in Favorites named "IE 8 32 bits." This means I'll have 2 instances of IE 8 open at the same time, or at least while I'm using 32 bit stuff. Not too pure but I think it will work. I'll give it a shot.
Petey7, I like the quick launch bar from XP so I found a way to get it in Win 7. Works good. Seems like there are a million ways you can tweak and customize Windows 7. I usually try everyone at least once.

philav.. Since you have them both pinned to taskbar. Just right click the IE icon and open the jump list that will get you right to where you need to be.
Okay, I know a lot of people that like the old quick launch. I wasn't sure if you could do both, or if you'd even want to. Glad you got something worked out.
