    Recurring Bluescreen error?

    Hello,
I wondered if I might be able to obtain some help. My PC keeps crashing due to a Bluescreen error and I was unsure of how to fix it. I have pasted the error message and hope to hear from someone.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

We really need the actual DMP file.

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

    * Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
    * Zip up the copy.
    * Start your own thread in the "Crashes and Debugging" section of the forum and attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
    * Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .. A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress. You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

    Thanks

    @ Aaron K:

Have a look in the BIOS and see what your CPU and RAM voltages are set to, and make sure that they are within spec. You could also try running Memtest86+ to make sure that the RAM is okay.

Most motherboards will typically undervolt RAM if left at the AUTO setting. Check the voltage required for your sticks (usually on a label for the sticks themselves) and make sure that the BIOS is set to that value.

That may not be the problem, but it often is. Post back and let us know.

Did you check SMART Data to see if your hard drive is failing?

I also posted the dump file on the debugging section of this website and have been advised to remove Kaspersky internet security (which appears to be causing BSOD crashes). I was also advised to ensure graphics card driver was the latest available and to monitor whether it might also be causing BSOD (as the Radeon 5770 that I have has apparently been linked with BSOD crashes).

I haven't checked, BIOS, used Memtest86+ or checked SMART data at this stage. However thanks Mellon Head & WinBuild7600 for these suggestions which I have noted for potential future use should problems continue. So I will observe how the machine goes from now on and take any further steps should they be required.

Help has been appreciated - thanks.

Aaron, did you uninstall Kaspersky and update that driver?

    Hi CarlTR6,
I deleted Kaspersky Internet Security and left it at that. Is there more I should do? i.e. what I mean is that I'm not sure which driver you are referring to. Is there a driver that Kaspersky would have used that could still be required for other programs?

    Thanks

I believe what Carl meant was whether or not you've updated your graphic card driver. If you haven't done it, please download and install most recent graphic driver.
When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

    Hi TTran,
I see - I deleted Kaspersky and also checked whether or not the graphics card driver was the most up to date one available. According to the Windows tool, the one in display adapters (in the device manager), the graphics card driver was up to date.

I will keep monitoring the PC and will ensure that I update drivers promptly for the devices. As advised I have noted the Guru3D - Driver Sweeper for future removal of outdated drivers when the need arises.

    Thanks.
