    Hello kulee,

I have talked with an expert on PSUs, and he feels your PSU is insufficient for your needs. Furthermore, a lower-end PSU can definitely cause problems.

He suggests upgrading to about 600W, pick one from this list: Power Supply Information and Selection - Tech Support Forum

While you're purchasing, you may want to throw in a cheap case fan. I don't know what case you have, so make sure you know the size of fan you need. For example, I have 4x120mm and 1x140mm fan bays on my tower.

It should cost you about $10: Newegg.com - Scythe SY1225SL12LM-P 120mm Case Fan

Even if this doesn't work, you'll still decrease temps, leading to longer hard drive life.

i think i will try windows xp. if my problems are hardware related, then bsod's will happen no matter which OS is in system?
and btw, my core temperatures have decreased for 10 degrees, and are now at approximately 47-50°C at all times

Looks like that thermal paste is doing its job.

About XP, that is probably the case. Can't say for sure, but I suspect if it's hardware, it will show up in XP as well.

Kuleee, that is good news about the temps. Excellent. You did well. Do let us know if you go back to XP and how it works for you.

ok guys, xp is running fine for now, not a single error for 12 hours. it seems that win7 is makin' troubles... i will make dual boot on another partition with win7 in 2 or 3 days, first i want to make sure that computer is able to work just fine for 48 hours in one piece. i will keep you informed!

Thanks for reporting back. What this tells you is that something is not compatible with Win 7 - hardware or software.

Do you have access to any other PSUs to test with?

Do you have Coretemp installed? If so, please remove it.

I wonder if the problem is caused by an incompatible motherboard. See this page: ASRock > Products > 4Core1333-FullHD

I notice it does not list Windows 7 as a compatible OS.

Might you have a version of Vista to stick on it to test? You don't need a product key yet; if a friend will lend you a Vista DVD, you can install it, and use it for 30 days without activation.

That should be plenty long enough to test with.

well i always hated this asrock board, i don't have drivers to download from their site for my motherboard using win7. i do not have any other psu to test with unfortunately too. but i can install vista today instead of win7 (dual boot). any reason why vista and not win7? i was using vista for one year: from may 2008 when i bought new computer, till may 2009 when i installed that test version of win7. so you think that if windows vista works fine, then its definitely something wrong with win7 and my hardware/software compatibility? and probably with motherboard...
