i tried Startup Repair multiple times as suggested only to recieve the messege "Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically. Help!
No worries, we'll get this sorted out.
Boot up the DVD, and open a command prompt. Enter bootrec /rebuildbcd.
See if that works.
another message pops up
BootRec.exe-Corrupt File
"The file or directory C:\Boot\BCD is corrupt and unreadable.
Please run the Chkdsk utility."
i ran Chkdsk on Command prompt and it says it found no problems
Try opening a command prompt and entering the following:Code:ren C:\Boot\BCD bcdold bootrec /fixboot bootrec /fixmbr bootrec /rebuildbcd
the first command states "the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"
the next three complete successfully and the last asks "Add installation to boot list?"
Oh No!!! i tried the Y command and it states "Cannot create a file when that file already exists."
Try entering del C:\boot\bcd then, in the command prompt. Then run the bootrec /rebuildbcd command.
