Solution
Download and take the memtest86. Run for 6 passes and test each MB slot with a known good ram stick
http://memtest.org/
As a last resort take the driver verifier test. Run for 36 hours
Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Drivers
Update graphics driver
Update outdated drivers
Ndis.sys is a microsoft driver that was given as a specific cause of the BSOD. I no not think that this is actually the case, although I may be mistaken. I think it may be related to your NIC. Please update the driver associated with your NIC card.
Ndis.sys Productname: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
Description: NDIS 6.0 wrapper driver
Company: Microsoft Corporation
Run an antivirus scan to be sure a virus is not the cause of the BSOD
Run an SFC
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
If you have made any recent changes or downloaded any software, please uninstall.

Hi richc46,

Thanks for your reply

Looking at Sony's website I have all the updates from there apart from the new BIOS version that cane out in Aug 2010. I have tried disabling the NIC card but this does not appear to have helped the issue. I have looked on ATI's website and it says that I need to contact the manufacture for new drivers.

I'll try memtest and see what that reports

Most drivers can be updated by way of the website.

The DumpReport is a guide with many forks in the road. I feel it is a driver. But, there can be many causes as I have shown.

Just for information, Event 1001 just means that the computer booted after a minidump report.
