Windows 7 64-bit Sporatic BSODs

Hello all. I'm sorry to have to have my first post be a problem but that's just how things are.

Here's the issue:

My computer that I built about eight months ago (the specs are in my system specs in the drop down) has recently been having quite a few blue screens over the past week. There have been five so far, and they seem to be random. They don't happen during processor or graphics intensive programs or games. For example, the most recent one today occured when I made a flash video fullscreen on Tested. The display became strange, there was a buzzing sound through the speakers, and then I got a bluescreen. I haven't reset any RAM yet, and I also haven't run memtest. I've attached a .zip of the results from perfmon and jcgriff2's troubleshooting program.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

There are several causes for these crashes. They all do point at two things.

First old drivers

You have drivers from as far back as 2005. They can by themselves cause crashing. Here is the list that should be updated. Note the video, storage, networking, an ASACPI.sys.

How To Find Drivers:

- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

Second Video drivers

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

If these dont help we can move on to move aggressive measures.

I would also add something to your comprehensive post. In one or two of the crashes it was blamed on hardware in general. I would suggest he also run a memory test

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

If no memory errors were found I would also recommend the following instructions as there was a 124 bugcheck.

I'm back, but not with good news. While I was updating drivers I was in the process of updating Acronis Home Image 2009, a program that uses one of the old drivers. It was finishing installing when I had another blue screen. Also, when I turned the computer back on, my motherboard gave me a message that said "Overclocking Failed" and an option to look at the BIOS settings or to revert them to the default. I checked them, and everything was in order--the only thing that I have changed is the boot order. There is no overclocking going on. This has happened before when I've had blue screens, but I had forgotten about it until just now. I've attached another .zip of the dumps and perfmon scans. I will also run memtest tonight.

Hi,
Make sure you follow all of the advise that Ken and Jan suggested. Recently, I've seen many BSODs cases caused by Acronis True Image, I would recommend you to remove them completely for testing purpose.
How do you completely remove True Image? | Forums

One of the DMP blamed snman462.sys, I don't know what program it is, probably game. I would remove it definitely.

I ran memtest86+ for almost 10 hours and it went through 13 passes. There were 271 errors, which sounds like a lot. It looks like there are bad addresses on both sticks of RAM. I'll be contacting Patriot today to see just how good their lifetime warranty is. Attached is a picture of memtest.

Today I bought a 2GB stick of OCZ 1333Mhz DDR3 ram to use while I return the defective RAM that I previously had in my computer. I installed the 2GB stick and turned on the computer (after plugging it back in of course) and Windows Startup Repair started. I don't know why this happened, but it did whatever it does and the computer successfully restarted. Once Windows was running, I decided to try and install the latest version of Acronis Home Image 2009 again. During installation I got another blue screen. I will uninstall Acronis as per previous instructions and make another crash report. Does anyone here have another backup program that they recommend?

Nothing wrong with acronis per se. I am running it on all mine. Youo do have to keep its drivers upgraded just like anything else.

Notes

I only ran the DMP from 8/17 because of the driver issues etc. That was caused by your video driver. With all the different causes I would bet the memory is causing them all and blaming the rest of the hardware.

It still shows really old drivers.
