    Revo 1600 - BSOD's

    Hello,

I have a 2 month old Acer Aspire Revo 1600 which is experiencing intermittent BSOD's. They often occur while I am watching a video but sometimes occur randomly (middle of the night, etc.). I have upgraded it with an additional 1 GB stick of Crucial RAM (Total 2 GB) and have 2 USB hard drives attached. This issues has been occurring ever since I purchased the machine. The OS is Win7 64 bit which I installed cleanly.

    Basic Specs:
    1.6GHz Intel Atom 230 Processor
    2 x 1024 MB DDR2 Memory
160 GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    Integrated NVIDIA ION LE Graphics

I have the video/audio connected via HDMI with the latest drivers from the Nvidia site. Everything besides these BSOD's seems to be working pretty well. Ran the Windows mem test with no issues.

The crash zip file is attached and I greatly appreciate any help. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

    ND

In the health report, I see a device driver problem. Did you fix that? Have a look in Device Manager whether there are any yellow flags

I checked the Device Manager and there are no yellow flags. Yesterday, I did remove and reinstall the Display Adapter so there might have been one there for a moment. But that was before I ran the health report.

Run this program ( DPC Latency Checker ) and see whether it produces any red bars.

Ran the DPC Latency Checker and am seeing all green bars currently at 190.

So far so good. I could not see much more in your attachment. Maybe another member discovers something.

OK, I was watching a couple of MKV files last night and another BSOD occurred in the middle of the second video. BTW, when the videos are playing, they play smooth with no stutter. The processor load hovers around 20-25% since the GPU is doing most of the work. Another file is attached and if anyone could take a look - I appreciate it very much.

One other note... Below is an error message which I haven't been able to clear out yet. This popped up seemingly randomly about a month ago. I believe this is the "Device Drivers" error the health report refers to. I attempted to turn off all power (acpi) related settings in the BIOS but that resulted in Windows not even booting. Here is the message in the Win Action Center:
    ________________

Address a problem with Away Mode System
This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between your computer's Away Mode System and your 64-bit version of Windows. The Away Mode System is only compatible with 32-bit versions of Windows.

This problem is not critical, but you can prevent it from occurring again by disabling the Away Mode System in your computer's BIOS. Refer to the instructions that came with your computer that explain how to access the BIOS and turn off Away Mode System support.

Another update on this... I ran MemTest on both sticks of RAM as they were and it did come back with 1 error. Now I've ran each stick in each slot and no errors came back. All test were ran with about 10 passes.

Any ideas on what to do next? Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi -

The 17 BSODs go back to 17 June 2010, just 8 days after Windows 7 was installed.

Was the system stable and in use during those first 8 days?

I see you have 2x1 GB RAM - 2 sticks of 1 GB each, different manufacturers, i.e., mismatched RAM. I would suggest that you remove one stick and see if the system stabilizes. DId you add RAM to the system?

You must update your NVIDIA nForce drivers -
    Code:
    nvstor64.sys Tue Aug 04 20:31:07 2009 (4A78D2CB)
    nvmf6264.sys Thu Jul 30 19:48:18 2009 (4A723142)
NVIDIA nForce --> Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

If BSODs persist, run the Driver Verifier -- Driver Verifier - jcgriff2.com
