Windows keeps freezing

Right so I got a new Sony Viao VPCEE2E1E laptop today. I was browsing using firefox and it stopped responding and didn't recover so I had to power it off. I was a little concerned but didn't think to much of it. Until it happened again a few hours later. Now it has happened a further 3 times in the last 10 minutes. It says firefox isn't responding then once I close I can't open any programs or do anything.

All I have downloaded is Firefox, AVG, tuxguitar and Malwarebytes.

Any Ideas?

Hi SAV 12,

As you say this is a brand new laptop did it come preloaded with an Anti Virus program?(i.e.a free-trial version that came pre installed.)
If so how did you remove it?

Have you checked in Event Viewer to see if there are any error messages?

Jan.

JMH,
If it is a brand new laptop it probably came with a lot of extra baggage(trial version software) he could remove from the startup.
I am getting ready to sign off for the night so have a great evening.
