    Windows 7 Stability

    Hi All,

Not sure if i am in the correct discussion area, but am hoping someone can assist me.

I have recently installed windows 7 ultimate x64, Kaspersky internet security 2011, and Microsoft office 2010 prof.

For some reason i am having some serious stability issues. A program will crash and am unable to recover from it. Results in my whole PC hanging and me having to force a restart.

The PC is also taking about 5 minutes to shut down.

I understand this is not much information, but really hope someone can assist me.

    Thanks
    Much appreciated

    V

Could you provide a bit more information. Was this a clean install or an upgrade to a previous Windows version? Was the Kaspersky installed via a download from the internet or from an installation disk? Same question for MS Office.

"A program will crash and am unable to recover from it."

Which program crashes? Any other programs installed?

    Hi

    Welcome to Seven Forums :)
First have a look at Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions as the BSOD Squad on SF will require that information to assist with your issue.
If you are up to it, try uninstalling (be sure to read the instructions on the page carefully) Kaspersky and installing Microsoft Security Essentials - some users have reported having issues with Kaspersky and 7 (depending on the version of Kaspersky that you are using). If you consider this recommendation as extreme, then you could try updating your Kaspersky to the latest version, if not done already.

    Keep us posted and regards

Hi Vitrioloic and welcome to the Forum.
It is almost impossible to give a meaningful answer to your post unless we have your full system specs. This is vital. Is your PC capable of supporting Windows 7? Did you run the upgrade advisor? It's here if you haven't used it:

    Hi Marsmirmar,

    Alright,

The Windows install was a clean install, did an full F disk.
The Kaspersky was installed off the provided installation disk.
The office 2010 was downloaded from the Net and activated with a CD key.

    Different programs will crash,

Say outlook then when restarting it the whole explorer freezes.
Other times will be something simple like the picture viewer, than the explorer.

I am also loaded onto a work domain.

What other info would you require?

If you go to the "User CP" at the top of his page and complete your system details they will then appear when we click on "System Specs".
If you don't have all the details to hand download Belarc Advisor. Run it and it will show all the details you need to complete the system specs. You can donload it from here:
