Installing Window 7 causes BSOD
Hi all, im trying to install windows 7 home onto a new machine.
windows 7 installation completes until the final reboot where the BSOD appears, giving codes
*** STOP: 0x00000116
*** nvlddmkm.sys - address FFFFF880490c6c0 base at fffff8800483c000, datestamp 4a0c8387
im not an expert on PC's so im struggling to debug the error.
Using shift+F10 i can load the command prompt. first line says X:\sources (which is suspect as i thought i would fine c:\ ive done cd c:\ and c doesnt exists?? very confusing. i've typed format x and am unable to format as it says x is write protected.
i dont know where to find any debug / diagnostic files to attach to this thread.
i have two identical graphic cards, using one 1 at the moment i have swapped cards to confirm its not an hardware fault, both cards give BSOD and i have changed the PICE slots. No effect.
my graphic card is ddr2 ram with 128 bits. my motherboard is ddr3 ram with 64 bit processor. dont know if this is incompatable?
i have tried deleting nvlddmkm.sys during windows installation as per several threads but the command prompt returns the file cant be found.
i have tried installing new graphic drivers pre installation but they fail.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
