    Random BSOD

    Windows 7 Ultimate Information
    - x86 (32-bit)
    - Originally installed Windows XP x86 SP3
    - Full Retail

    - The computer is about 3 year old
    - Os is about 8 months old

My computer will just hang randomly and sometimes BSOD will be shown and sometimes not, it could happen anytime like playing games, browsing, streaming and idling as well.
Sometimes the screen will go full green for a second before the computer hang but it is just once in a while.

I've updated my graphic card driver and it helps to reduce the frequency of BSOD, but now it is coming back again and it is very annoying.

Hope you guys can help me out.

    Thanks,
    Ru Te

The memory dump blames your wireless driver (athrusb.sys) - but previous memory dumps also suggest issues with your Kaspersky Internet Security (klif.sys) and your ULead CD/DVD program (ULCDRHlp.sys)

So, let's start with the SMCWUSB-G 802.11g Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter. First, USB adapters like this have many issues, and there are even more issues with Win7. I would strongly suggest a wireless card that plugs into your motherboard rather than the USB device - as they are more powerful and more reliable.

That being said, please download a fresh copy of the Win7 drivers for this device from this link: SMC Networks - SUPPORT EN_USA
    Then, uninstall the current drivers
Then, install the freshly downloaded drivers
    Then, test for further BSOD's.

If that doesn't stop the BSOD's, the next thing to try is this:
    Anti-Virus Removal:
    Please do the following:
    - download a free antivirus for testing purposes: Free AntiVirus
    - uninstall the Kaspersky from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
    - remove any remnants of Kaspersky using this free tool: Removal tool for Kaspersky Lab products
    - IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus
    - check to see if this fixes the BSOD's
Also, please remove or update these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager.
Please use the following instructions to locate the most currently available drivers to replace the one's that you uninstall OR remove:
    How To Find Drivers:
    - I have listed links to most of the drivers in the code box below. Please use the links there to see what info I've found about those drivers.
    - search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
    - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
    - - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference
    - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

Here's the older drivers (You can look them up here: Driver Reference ).
Please pay particular attention to any dated 2008 or earlier:

Thanks a lot for the help ! I have removed the tv tuner driver (Video mate) because I was suspecting it causing BSOD for a long time, and I have updated the Nvidia ehternet driver as well. The only thing that I cannot update/remove is the USB wireless Lan driver as there is no newer driver available and thats my only source of wireless so I can't remove it.

It had been good for weeks and now I start to get random crashes without BSOD at all, could it all be just the USB wireless Lan driver ?

    Thanks,
    Ru Te

It's possible. Without updated USB wireless drivers we see all sorts of issues.
I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer of the device to see if they have Win7 drivers - if not, then I'd get a Win7 wireless card to stick inside of your system. They're more powerful and more reliable.
