Windows 7: Bluescreen

14 Sep 2010   #1

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

I fiddled with the PS2 mouse driver - I was trying to install an Apple Trackpad - unsuccessfully I might add, but that's a different story.

Windows blue screened and gave a message about IRQL NOT EQUAL. I've tried to boot in safe mode and uninstall the driver - its says it needs to reboot for change to take effect, so I do, and it reloads and instantly bluescreens. The message inviting me to reboot so the driver change takes effect comes up too - suggesting no changes were made. The mouse driver is still showing in device manager.

I'm not sure why the PS2 driver is even there - I havent plugged any mouse and the laptop doesnt even have a PS2 port. Maybe windows installed in automatically when it detected the Trackpad. If this PS2 driver is causing the problem, it won't let me install it

Any help much appreciated. Thank you
- Acer 5332 - Celeron 1.8
- Windows 7 Home Premium OEM. 64 bit
- Bought yesterday, havent done much other than to install a couple of programs and uninstall the demos and bloatware
- Issues started when I was trying to connect an Apple Magic Trackpad

How to Find Drivers
search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone - will help you search Google for the name of the driver

After performing all of the above, post back with any new BSOD reports, or indicate that the attempted repairs were successful.
If any links do not work, if clicked, please copy and paste to browser address bar.
Remember that several attempts may be required before we can solve your BSOD problem. These reports are not definitive but merely point the way to a solution.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

That will explain why it recrashed when I tried to reboot in Safe Mode with Networking. Though strange that the wireless card driver took a day to decide to crash. Anyway...

Luckily I could get online with my other laptop so I could get on here and then onto the Acer website to download the driver.

It worked - its rebooted just fine.

Thank you very much for your help. I couldnt have solved this without it
