    Mini-PC not starting ?

    hi !

i´m trying to repair a friends netbook (Mini-PC), running W7-Ultimate.
it doesn´t start normally, because of a driver-installation that has messed up the system.

chkdsk reports an "error on C: because of driver installation" ,"try system restore".
the only alternative that works is "Safe mode with network".
"system restore" refuses to start, reports "disk error on C:", "repair that first...".

i´ve tried "sfc/scannow" but it doesn´t start, i get an errormessage: "system restore waiting, restore computer first,
    then run scannow again".
looks like a "loop", with errormessages....

eventlog isn´t running, so i can´t check for the "bad" driver.
i have uninstalled a "suspect" installation (spotify), but it didn´t change anything.
just finally managed to run system restore, i tried the 2 existing points, but none of them are any good.

    any ideas before i reinstall W7 ?

Boot in safe mode (F8) and see if there is a dmp file as listed below

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

    * Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
    * Zip up the copy.
    * Start your own thread in the "Crashes and Debugging" section of the forum and attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
    * Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

If there isnt go into device manager and see if they are any unknown drivers.

Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If y our driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

Let us know if you need assistance

    hi !

the Minidump-folder is empty, and no yellow triangles in device-manager.

the BIG problem in this case is that several system-functions like the eventlog seems to have been turned off,
i´ve checked "Services", and it looks a bit weird.

i suspect the only thing to do is reinstall W7, because even if i manage to make it start normally, this is a "weird / screw*ed" system....

Repair install, else re-install. If your system services look weird they probably are and the fastest way to get whole is a clean install if you can back up the data.

Let us know if we can help
