Delayed Shutdown or Restart then BSOD

    Aloha,
I'm new to the forums but have been checking you out for about 2 weeks now for my issue. Was running a Win 7 Ultimate upgrade from Vista Home Premium on my HP s3220n for the past 6 months or so with no probs. System started acting up about 2 weeks or so ago and decided to do a clean install, not once but a couple of times took over 4 hours and reverted back to Vista and made sure I had all the bios and driver updates so I thought. Did a clean install again and got all my upgrades and driver updates so I think, but I've been having problems with shutting down or restart up to about 10 mins hanging on the shutting down screen then get the BSOD minidump and system restarts with not shutting down cleanly. Tried to make sure all my drivers are up to date. System restore back to earlier date wutevas. Did the Memtest no problems.

    Cause

The cause of your BSOD appears to be a driver
    Xcbdav.sys
Productname: ViXS XCode Series Windows AVStream Driver for x86 Platforms
Description: ViXS XCode Windows AVStream Minidriver
    Company: ViXS Systems Inc.

    Solution
In addition to updating driver please take the following steps.
    If overclocking restore normal settings
    SFC /scannow
    System Files - SFC Command
    Scan with your Anti Virus

    How to Find Drivers
search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
    - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone - will help you search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
    - The most common drivers are listed on this page: http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html
    - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html
To remove any left over driver remnants, especially from graphics cards, use driver sweeper
    www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

After performing all of the above, post back with any new BSOD reports, or indicate that the attempted repairs were successful.
If any links do not work, if clicked, please copy and paste to browser address bar.
Remember that several attempts may be required before we can solve your BSOD problem. These reports are not definitive but merely point the way to a solution.

Thanks Richc46 for the fast response. Sorry I didn't get back to you right away was doing my driver research. That driver is actually pointing to my TV Tuner , Manufacturer from Vixs Systems Inc. Looked there no help what so eva! Driver is ver.6.0.129.0 9/15/2008. I've Googled found newer versions but deadends, found pay for drivers detectors B--S!! ext. Haven't done the SFC yet but will. Checked out your links no help there. Saw another post here about taking out the card that stopped the bsod don't know if he put it back in and got the update or not but left a reply. Asus motherboard site doesn't even list my board , HP site sucks, along with Microsoft Duh!! I do know I can run Win 7 on my system cause I did the compatibility test. Didn't have this problem with upgrading from Vista that was installed before just was running out of room on harddrives and must of downloaded sumting that didn't agree , Causing me to do a clean install, which by the way might of not installed properly. But nothing really goes wrong til I shutdown(but of course enough of doing it that way results in starting up problems, AHAH! But will get back to you when I finish the other tests.
    Much Mahalo for your help!!

The reports, at best just give clues. But all of yours point toward the driver.
I think you have to update or at least, uninstall and install again. It could just be corrupt.

    Howz'it Richc46,
Thanks for all your help. I tried deleting the driver for the Vixs System tv tuner that the error was pointing too, (Did go to the manufactures site by the way "0" luck) but afterwards and many hours later (WTF!) it still wouldn't go away. Couldn't delete it or upgrade it!! Was getting ready to just take it out, but thought I would try and follow the upgrade tutorial about fixing your OS with your Win 7 disc while running Win 7 to fix problems that might have occurred during original install , Well over night cause it got stuck at coping files at 62%(don't ya just love HP's!!) Ah could of been the disc too, but any who, I just manually shut it off thinking oh well now I'm screwed. But I booted up the computer a few hours later not even wanting to look at it thinking I had to reload it all for the whole day again, but low and behold it actually rolled back to the original Windows 7 OS, everything was pretty much there had to reboot cause Kaspersky (Internet Security 11) did it's update. It shutdown with no problems, rebooted up. I'm like Damn. Went into Device Manager to check things out and the tv tuner didn't have its driver loaded, but the version was still showing 05/08. At this point I didn't give a crap cause now I don't have any issues anymore with shutting down and rebooting. I guess maybe it actually uninstalled before the upgrade dunt know??Now if I really wanted to use my PC to watch live tv I'd be pretty peeved but I don't use it so go figure. If I had a few hundred dollars to sink into a newer PC I'd do it but for now I guess problem solved!! Now I probably wouldn't recommend this to other folks, really don't even know what happened but it worked!! I guess the computer gods were on my side that day!! Oh Yeah!! Freaky!

Im glad that it worked. If you want to get rid of the driver, but cant uninstall., just go into c: windows\system32\drivers
Change the extension eg .exe to .bup. The computer thinks its gone and will not be a problem.
    Glad that it worked out.
