Yes give me the screen shots. I work with BSODs. I may recognize some problem drivers.

there are three to complete the list, the last one on each should be the first of the next.

Here are the instructions for those that have BSOD, one thing it gives us is the drivers in use. Follow these instructions and I can put the drivers into order by date and have the older ones on top. Will be a bit easier, anyway.

I don't think Rich is on line so I took a look at both dumps

Error code 116, VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE - usual causes are Video driver, overheating, bad video card, ?BIOS, ?Power to card.

Error code 50, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA - usual causes are Defective hardware (particularly memory - but not just RAM), Faulty system service, Antivirus, Device driver, NTFS corruption, BIOS.

The first dump directly blames your video card and the second blames Direct X which infers the video card. Your loaded drivers are shown in the second dump. I do find two outdated drivers:
athrx.sys Tue Jun 09 14:06:49 2009 - Atheros network adapter driver, OEM - none at Atheros, Wireless LAN, WLAN, 2.4/5-GHz, 802.11a/b/g, 802.11b/g, 802.11n, Radio-on-a-Chip, Overview, Networking, Products and Technology. If you can't get an updated driver, you might consider a new network adapter (LAN) card.

nvsmu.sys Mon Jun 29 03:36:37 2009 - nVidia nForce System Management Controller (nVidia nForce chipset driver) Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Do you have another graphics card you can try?

    unfortunately not,
and the atheros thing is a big one, the driver im using is not for the card, if you look at an earlier post im actually using a work around, this has stopped the freezing, not one since i did it, but the blue screens obviously aren't much better!

now the chipset driver is an interesting one to me because my mobo install cd does not support 64 bit system, so i installed the drivers manually, or let windows do it.
i think ill update those first because its the cheapest!

what would be your plan of attack for this situation?

I think you may not find an updated version of that Atheros driver considering this is a work around. When you did the workaround, you probably got the latest driver. However, you can go to the Atheros site directly and try. Network adapters can cause freezes and BSOD's without being blamed in the dumps. I would go the the NVidia site and search for nvsmu.sys.

As I see you have two problems, your video card and your network card. Experimenting with drivers did not work. That leaves the video card itself. Have tested your video card with Furmack? If not, I suggest you do so. Here is a tutorial with the information and instructions. Post back with your results.

ok i saw loads of artifacts is it? looks like the textures are warping and stringing, and the temp leveled out at 70oC.
these artifacts happen all the time in games. although not as bad as in the test.

am i going to need a new card? this one is only a couple of months old!

It appears that your card is bad. Do have another card or can you borrow one to try in your computer? Can you try your card in another computer? Can you RMA your card for a replacement?
