BSOD & restart with use of FLASH,Silverlight etc

    Hi all,

I got a Blue Screen of Death recently. I have no clue if it is related but it seemed to happen while I was watching an online video. Very often when I want to use Skype, my system crashes if I also have something running from Flash or Silverlight, the Gmail video calling plugin or anything related. The only way out is a system reboot.

I hope anyone can help. Below I answered the questions as good as possible and I attached the zip folder with the output and perfmon files.

    I have a:
    - Dell Inspiron 1545, Windows 7 Home PRemium 64 bit
    - It came originally with Windows Vista, after purchase, I upgraded it to Windows 7
    - I did a reinstall around januari, just to keep things clean
    - The laptop was purchased at 28 aug 2009

Thanks a lot in advance for any insights!!!

    Kiki

Both dumps show the same error code and both blame netw5v64.sys, which is a driver for your Intel Wireless WiFi Link.

Error code D1, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL - cause is usally a device driver.

I will look deeper into your drivers. There are things that can affect your wireless adapter and it may not be the real cause.

Let's start the trouble shooting by uninstalling Eset NOD 32. Third party antiviruses, firewalls and security suites can cause BSOD's on some Windows 7 systems. Once you have your system running smoothly, you can try Eset again; but I do not recommend doing so. Use this tool to completely remove Eset: Info > Tool. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in it place. Make sure Windows Firewall is turned on.

Your wireless driver, netw5v64.sys, is out of date. Update this driver: Intel Wireless WiFi Link Driverhttp://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

The following drivers are all out of date; some are quite obsolete. Generally speaking, Win 7 does not like outdated drivers. They can and do cause BSOD's.

    000.fcl Fri Sep 26 09:11:22 2008 - CyberLink FCL Driverhttp://www.gocyberlink.com

adfs.SYS Thu Jun 26 16:52:37 2008 -Adobe File System Driver http://www.adobe.com. Completely uninstall all of your Adobe software. Download and install the latest versions.

    Apfiltr.sys Thu Apr 02 13:39:40 2009 - Alps pointing device OEM - none at http://www.alps.com

    CtClsFlt.sys Tue Dec 30 08:00:21 2008

DLABMFSE.SYS Thu Oct 26 19:19:26 2006 -Drive Letter Access Component of Roxio Drag-to-Disc Roxio Customer Care. I suspect that you are going to have to uninstall Roxio. This software is designed for XP and will cause problems with Win 7. You can download and install and up to date version if it is certified compatible with Win 7.

    netw5v64.sys Thu Mar 26 12:21:24 2009 - Intel Wireless WiFi Link Driverhttp://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

PxHlpa64.sys Wed Oct 18 13:34:14 2006 - To my knowledge, there is no update for this driver. Sonic CD/DVD driver (used by many different CD/DVD programs) pxHelp20.sys programs
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and rename PxHlpa64.sys to PxHlpa64.BAK
This will break your CD/DVD program, but can easily be renamed after we've finished.

stwrt64.sys Mon Jun 29 13:52:05 2009 - SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec OEM - none at Freescale Search
Take care of updating, uninstalling, or renaming the above drivers, especially those in red font, reboot and let's see how your system does. I hope this will solve your problem. If not upload the next BSOD and we will go to the next step.

You are very welcome; it is my pleasure to help. I have finished with my analysis. Refresh your page for the latest. Post back if you have any questions or if you need help with any of the drivers.

    How to update drivers:
    - I have listed links to most of the drivers in the code box below. Please use the links there to see what info I've found about those drivers.
    - search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
    - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

    - - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference
    - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

it took a long time since i couldnt find a few and tried really hard not to bother you before i had tried really hard to find them

so what you suggested above is done, except for:
    - 000.fcl If this belongs to PowerDvD, cant I just uninstall that program? i hate it anyway...
    - CtClsFlt.sys I dont seem to be able to find their downloading page

I also made a BIOS update from version A08 to A14. Things still seem normal. I hope I made a good decision by doing that.

I will go to bed now, hoping that all the muscle work has been done.
Thank you for or your help!! It will be eternally appreciated :)

Yes, by all means you can uninstall it; that will get rid of the driver.

From the link I gave you for Creative, click on the web cam icon, then click on your camera model. That should open up a page with the driver downloads on it. If your camera is not there, look at the bottom and click on "Click here". Then choose your product from the list. If you cannot find an updated filter driver, it will mean you camera is not compatible with Win 7. You will need to upgrade to a new camera and uninstall your old one.

That was probably a good decision to upgrade the BIOS. Because there is some risk, such as turning your computer into a paper weight, with updating BIOS, I rarely recommend doing so unless you are having a problem that is specifically addressed by a BIOS update.

And you are welcome for the help. :)

    Hi CarlTR6,
I just want to give an update.

I haven't had any problems anymore so far. My skype is running, all the other Silverlight and Flash plugins do their work obediently and the Blue Sreen Of Death is swinging his sickle probably at an other house.

Thanks a lot for your help!
