Windows 7: New computer with random BSOD.

New computer with random BSOD.

I purchased a new ASUS laptop a week ago and have had unpredictable BSODs. I have opened a few(but not all) of the dump files and they point to NETIO.sys. Another post here had a very similar problem, but a different machine. Hopefully its a simple matter of finding and replacing corrupted drivers.
Zipped Minidump files attached.

Well, the NETIO.sys means that there's issues with your networking - but this can be many, many different things.

Please upload the reports requested in this post: https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

Thanks for the quick response. Here's the requested information:
OS: windows 7 home premium oem

Additionally, I have run chkdsk and windiag (memory test), and both came back free of errors.

All of your dumps are error code 7F, UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP. Usual causes - Memory corruption, Hardware (memory in particular), Installing a faulty or mismatched hardware (especially memory) or a failure after installing it, 3rd party firewall, Device drivers, SCSI/network/BIOS updates needed, Improperly seated cards, Incompatible storage devices, Overclocking, Virus scanner, Backup tool, Bad motherboard, Missing Service Pack. The dumps blame ntkrnlmp.exe or netio.sys. Bot are Windows system files and very unlikely to be the real cause.

To begin with, uninstall Zone Alarm tool bar and anything else Zone Alarm you have have installed. ZA is almost guaranteed to cause crashes with Win 7. Use this uninstall tool: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exeMake sure Windows Firewall is turned on. It looks like you are running Windows Defender? If so, please download and install Microsoft Security Essentials. MSE will turn Widows Defender off. If you are running MSE, well and good; your Perfmon report did not pick it up.

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
        use .trap on that value
Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.

You have some outdated drivers on your system. Out of date drivers can cause memory corruption and crashes. The ones in bold font are really obsolete. Update these drivers.

Uninstall ZA and up date these drivers, particularly the mouse and webcam drivers, reboot and see how your system runs. If you get another BSOD, upload the dump. If you need help with the drivers, let us know and let us know how your system is running.

Prob(lem,ably) solved

Its been several days now and no BSODs.
I found the most recent versions of ATK64AMD.sys and ASMMAP64.sys, and uninstalled the webcam and Zonealarm. The driver for the tablet is the most up to date, so I simply reinstalled it JIC it was corrupted. Magiciso driver was installed Waaay after the problem reared its ugly head, so I left it alone, planning on reinstalling if the problem persisted.
The only thing I plan to do is reinstall ZA (because I paid for it!) and see if I can get it working. Hopefully I dont have to get a different virus scanner yet.

Thanks a bunch for your help!

That is really good news and you are very welcome. Thank you for reporting back and giving us your solutions. I advise you not to reinstall ZA. ZA and Win 7 just do not get along. Every time I see a 7F error code, the first thing I do is look for ZA. I still use ZA on my XP system and it works well. I never could get it to work on my Win 7 system. Good luck and happy computing!
