Windows 7: applications won't start

17 Oct 2010   #11

Windows 7 home premium 64 bit

I have tried the custom install but got stuck again. At the point (step 12) where I should be asked to set a username annd password, it acts as if a username and password are already set (it looks a bit like the windows log in screen but in lower resolution).

My usual username and password for windows would do not work and I cannot get past this point.

Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

It sounds like it was a OEM factory recovery that you did instead since it did not ask you to enter a user name and password during the installation.

The boxes that I clicked on (including the Custom Install option) did not say factory recovery.

If it was an OEM factory recovery, would the windows messages tell me this (they seemed to match as per the Custom Install instructions until asking for the username and password).
