    Random Computer Freeze

    Hi there,
I bought a new HP laptop about 3 weeks ago. It seemed to be going fine until it started to crash randomly. I called up HP and they did a bios update. The problem was solved for a couple of days, but the problem returned. Then, I was told to do a reformat the laptop back to factory default. That seemed to solve the problem again, but it has been reappearing again now. I have no faith in HP solving my problem. I have ran the short and long hard disk test and it came out clean. I ran the memory test and it passed too. I have also ran sfc /scannow which also turns out clean. My freezes have been completely random. It has froze when I have been playing games, surfing web on Firefox, and even when I just had turned on the laptop and left it on idle. I am not sure if there is any other information you would like to provide.

Hi there and welcome to SF!

Can you please follow this instruction:

The freeze sounds like a hardware problem. First thing you might want to do is to check your RAM
Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.
