It says in the tutorial that I have to be loged in as an Admin. But everything is working fine when I am loged in Admin. I am sorry , I may sound silly but I am just trying to understand. Also, I tried to extract files while in User Account but it says I can not. I guess it will work if I switch to Admin. But I am afraid to mess up the things.

Is this a standard account that these exe files will not work in? If so, then you will not be able to run anything that requires elevation without having to enter the administrator's password when prompted by UAC.

Also, see if you may be able to download and merge the exe option in the tutorial below to restore the default associations for exe files while logged in as an administrator. Hopefully this will fix the association issue in the other account.

Thank you so much. I actually tried it last night and even though I was not able to extract them (I was prompted to enter the Admin pass) , everything is working fine now. Even Skype!
The only thing that still comes up when I start up my computer is that MediaHPSmart is not working. Maybe this is something I should contact them directly.
Currently I have MCAfee security system. Do you recommend something else? The license is about to expire, so should I renew it or buy something else?

I have no words to express how grateful I am for all your help !

You're most welcome Selma. That's great news. :)

You might check your startup programs using the tutorial below to check with each option for the different locations, and disable/remove MediaHPSmart if found.

I would say that using the free MSE along with Windows Firewall is good. In addition, using a router with a built-in hardware firewall will help give you better incoming protection.
