    boot up error

This error kind of just happened randomly. I believe it to have happened after I installed a windows update. I removed them and error is still occuring. I am still able to boot to windows no problem but would like to correct this issue. Anyone out there get the same screen or know what I should do. Any suggestions would be great thanks.

    Checking file system on c:
The type of the file system is NTPS.
    Volume label is Local Disc.

One of your disks need to be checked for consistency. You
may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended
    that you continue.
    Windows now check the disk.
Cannot open volume for direct access.
Autochk cannot run for due to an error caused by a recently installed software package.
use the system restore feature from the control panel to restore the system to a point prior to this.
    recent software package installation.
    An unspecified error occured.

All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc
Then boot from the disk and select Startup Repair...System Restore
    then
use the system restore feature from the control panel to restore the system to a point prior to this.
    recent software package installation.

OK so I created the disc and I restarted the computer but it did not boot from the disc. How do I do make the computer boot from the disc?

With an Asus you've got to press the Tab key as soon as the system shows the screen.
Then press the F8 key and the boot menu should pop up once the system POSTs.
Then you can select the CD/DVD and let it boot.

OK man I got it to work. I did't actually have to restore back to an earlier point I just did that option that fixes startup errors and it cleared/corrected it. Thanks.

OK now that my computer has recovered from this it sounds like my fan or hard drive are working faster than normal. A lot more noise coming from the back of the laptop. Doesn't effect the performance of the computer at all but just would like to shut it up. I have tried a few things but had no luck. Any suggestions would be great.

The fan runs more frequently (most likely) because something inside the case is causing more heat to be generated. Try blowing the vents out with canned air (don't use a vacuum cleaner or an air compressor as they can cause damage).

Try these free diagnostics: [quote]H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link)

Ok so I cleaned out all the vent holes with canned air. I ran both the memory diagnostic and hard drive diagnostic and both came up with "0" errors. It is still making a humming noise from the fan. Not sure of what else I could try I am going to keep doing some more searching.
