Hmmm, the file hpdskflt.sys, lead me here (Win7 x64 BSOD on shutdown/hibernate issues - HP Support Forum), which seems to say it is HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor.

Had a look on the PC and can't even find that.

I'll keep digging and see if I can find the process; and try to shutdown with that suspended.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the help so far.

Found this article (https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...t-working.html), so thought I would try shutting down with the wi-fi disconnected (and therefore no access to the WD network drive). First attempt, still crashed. Second attempt after a reboot and shutdown - all with no network, and result.

Tried a few times, now and have even reconnected to the network, and the conflict seems to have resolved itself.

I will update if anything changes, but for now BSOD has gone.

Now, just to solve the lack of the webcam.

You have persistence, I'll say that for you.
Often self help is the most rewarding.
HP should offer you a job.....{grin}
When this is all over your help on this Forum would be very welcome.
Your reporting back with your findings also helps others with a similar problem.
