    Random BSOD

My computer has started to crash at seemingly random times. There has been no hardware changes and memtest was clean. clean of viruses and spyware. Ive checked all i could think of and not sure what is causing the problem
running windows 7 64bit, hardware is under 6 months old i think. OS has been reinstalled once in that time.
    thanks for the help.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Sorry you are having problems. I looked at your four most recent dumps; they are virtually identical.

I find three big potential BSOD causes

I recommend that you uninstall any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads. Select uninstall; do NOT select reinstall.

Here is a free alternative CD virtualization program that does not use the sptd.sys driver.
    Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) Overview

Next, I see you are running Zone Alarm. ZA is a well documented and notorious cause of BSOD's on Win 7 systems. You have two optons:

    1. Uninstall ZA using this removal tool:
http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exe. Make sure Windows Firewall is turned on.
    or
    2. Install this Microsoft hotfix: Stop error message when you run an application that transfers data by using the UDP protocol in Windows Server 2008 R2 or in Windows 7: "STOP 0x0000007F"

I recommend that you uninstall AVG. AVG is a known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems, as are many 3rd party AV programs. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place.

Out of date drivers can and do cause conflicts and BSOD's. You have the following outdated drivers loaded on your system. Updte these drivers through the links provided.
    iaStor.sys Thu Jun 04 21:53:40 2009 - Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver (base). http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx.

mv61xx.sys Thu Mar 19 23:48:21 2009 - Marvell Thor Windows Driver - Marvell Thor - Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. Marvell: Support.

RTKVHD64.sys Mon Jul 06 05:18:54 2009 - Realtek High Definition Audio Function Driver. Realtek.

    yk62x64.sys Mon Jun 15 12:49:34 2009 - .2 Miniport Drive, Marvell: Support.
Follow all of the above suggestions, reboot and see how your system runs. Post back and let us know. If you get another BSOD up load it and we will go from there.

    UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
    If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
            use .trap on that value
    Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
    Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: 0000000000000008, EXCEPTION_DOUBLE_FAULT
    Arg2: 0000000080050031
    Arg3: 00000000000006f8

Many third party anti-virus, firewall, and security suite programs have problems with Win 7. There are valid reasons for this. It is due to Win 7's internal security coding which is much changed from XP and even from Vista. Win 7 is far more secure than its predecessors. I am sure the third party vendors will eventually get it figured out. Some have made good progress already. Avast generally runs well with Win 7 and can even run side by side with MSE without conflict. The latest version of Eset NOD32 seems to run pretty well, although I have seen two BSOD's that possibly were caused by the latest version of Eset. Comodo firewall generally runs well with Win 7. I am about to try the latest version of Comodo to see how it does. Security programs are essentially rootkits, albeit good rootkits, and Win 7 is designed to to make it more difficult for rootkits. This is the reason most of us recommend MSE and Windows Firewall. They are MS programs and designed to work with Win 7.

sptd.sys has been causing problems with Win 7 since the Win 7 beta versions. Even the latest version of sptd.sys causes conflicts.
