Windows 7: BSOD

08 Oct 2010   #11

Windows 7 64 bit

I did not knew Driver Verifier. Somebody told me to use this because I had al lot of BSOD's. In the beginning when I selected all drivers, except Microsoft, Verifier was giving a BSOD on a sptd driver. I deleted this (Deamon Tools). After that I selected all NVIDIA drivers in Verifier. My system was hanging (freese) or give a BSOD on the driver nvlddmkm.sys.

Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit

This latest one is Driver Verifier enabled also. It blames a Microsoft system core driver. It is very unlikely that either MS driver of Firefox caused the BSOD's. Delete existing settings is the way to turn Driver Verifier off; then you must reboot.

I find one very obsolete driver on your system; it is an XP driver. Out of date drivers can an do cause conflicts, memory corruption, and crashes.
SSPORT.sys Thu Aug 11 19:07:32 2005 - Samsung printer driver, Samsung. Update this driver. It is not going to work with Win 7.
I can't say this driver is causing your crashes; but it is certainly not contributing to stability of your system.

Turn driver verifier off and update the above driver. Reboot and let's see how your system does. If you get another BSOD, please upload it. We will get it worked out. All of your other drivers are up to date. Your next step will be to test your RAM with Memtest86; but let's wait until you get another BSOD.

The error code of both of these dumps is 1A, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. Usual causes: Device driver, memory, kernel.

Windows 7 64 bit

Here we are again. Today, I removed the driver ssport.
I tested the memory with Memtest, no errors. I also changed the memory, 4 Gb RAM Kingston. I disabled Driver Verifier. I also ran Speedfan, no errors. I also tested the VGA card with Furmark. The temperature was normal.

I just get another BSOD. You can find in the attash. I just don't get it. What is wrong with this system?

Best regards

Again inconclusive and sorry for poaching Carl, but why dont we approach this another way.

If you have not yet run a system file check do so.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Let us know the results.

Then go into event viewer and look for errors relating to the problem.

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

Let us know if you need help with any of this.

The error code is again 1A, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. Usual causes: Device driver, memory, kernel.

Ken, that is quite all right. I appreciate the help. Four eyes are always better than two. :)

Tom, By all means follow Kens solid advice. I did some digging and found another driver that is obsolete. This one was shown in your latest dump as an unloaded module, which means it was involved in the crash. This does not necessarily mean it caused the crash. But it is an outdated driver.

DgivEcp.sys 2/03/2009 - Windows NT 4.0 IEEE-1284 parallel class driver for ECP, Byte, and Nibble modes or Windows 2k,XP IEEE-1284 parallel class driver for ECP, Byte, and Nibble modes belongs to the software DeviceGuys, Inc. Team MFP for Windows NT, 9x, and or DgiVecp or Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. VECP for Windows 2000, XP by DeviceGuys, Inc or Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. As you can see, this driver is not even a Vista driver; it is an XP/ Win 2K driver. Try to update this driver from Samsung. If you cannot update it, uninstall the software. I did find errors involving the driver in your system events log. I was at a handicap to determine the error because I do not read the language.

You can also rename the driver by navigating to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers. Locate the driver and rename it from .sys to .bak. This will break the program it is associated with; but you can always rename it again when you get your system stable. If you do not find the driver in the Windows folder, try C:\Program Files (x86)\SAMSUNG\Samsung ML-2010 Series\Install\data\VECP\VISTA\DgivEcp.sys and rename it there.

Post your SFC results and the results of working with DgivEcp.sys.

Phew, thank you for your answer but it is difficult for me :). My language is Dutch, so that's the first difficulty. And I am not a professional :). So excuse me if I do something wrong.

First I did a System File Check, no errors. You can find in the attash. I also did Event Viewer and I saved it. There were some red files. You can also find this one in the attash.

Thank you both for helping me. I really appreciate this.

Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit

Glad to hear that SFC found no errors. That means your system files are most likely OK. In my post regarding the driver, the blue words are links. The bottom line to all of that is that you have program called Vecp or DigiVecp on your system with an older driver. This driver may be contributing to your BSOD's. If you know what the software is, uninstall it. If you don't know, rename the driver. If you need help with this, please let us know.

Windows 7 64 bit

In the eventviewer I saw that the DigiVecp is allways near to a ssport.sys error. I deleted the ssport driver. I searched on Google and it looks that DigiVecp has something to do with a Samsung driver. I have a Samsung ML2010R. So that could be the cause of all of my problems with this system. I looked on the Samsung website and I have installed the latest driver on my pc, a few weeks ago. There is no newer one. So I have to buy an new printer?

Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit

I noticed that about ssport.sys also what I looked at your event logs. For now, disable the driver by renaming it. That will probably disable your printer. If this stops your BOSD's, you have found the cause. That will mean you need a new printer. You can use this link to see if your printer is compatible with Win 7. I don't think it is.

Windows 7 64 bit

Well, I had no BSOD's for 7 hours now.
On the Microsoft site there was mentioned that my printer, a Samsung ML-2010R was compatible with Windows 7. I removed the dgivecp thing in the folder System32\drivers and also the ssport. I removed also the dgivecp in the registry.
My printer is still working (!) and I had no more BSOD's. Also, in eventviewer there were no errors anymore! So I am a happy man now

Thank you all for helping me!

Best Regards
