brand new windows 7 pc crashes on rendering vegas or visionlab

I have just bought a new pc from dell a installed with windows 7 on a 64 bit system.
whenever i try to render videos my video software crashes. its the same whether i click render in sony vegas or visonlab from fxhome.
I also get vertical white lines over videos in youtube.
videos play fine with media player or vlc.
I spent 1100 with dell and they havent replied to offer any support.

Fxhome have been great but cant find a solution and from checking the internet it all seems to be a permissions issue.

The thing is in the fxhome folder there are example projects and these projects render fine.

but all my other video clips dont

i cant install new project or render anything else

Yes i have the latest flash yes i have the latest quicktime and drivers for my graphics card. yes i have claimed ownership of the folders the files are in and i dont think u should have to attempt this for every file on a 1tb external hardrive.

so please can someone help. Ive read this forums and seen a lot of users seeking help get abuse.

Bloody computers

I have been trying to get my PC to render video. I will not bore you with details. I have scoured the web for solutions and found suggestions such as replacing video cards and updating drivers.

All have achieved nothing.

The point I'd like to make is that nobody really has a clue. It seems to be very common that rendering video causes Windows to crash.

I have seen posts on various forums claiming that the fault is with the user.

My point is that we are decades into the era of multi tasking OSs with protected memory and all the other wizardry. Yet still it is common for applications to crash OSs.

What really aggravates me is that I cannot find anything which sugests a reliable hardware configuration. It's all just hot and miss and try this and try that.

If the app or the OS are short on RAM or disk space, or need more processing power or any other problems then the OS and app should handle the error and report back an informative message to the user and NOT crash the OS.

There is no excuse. The fact that video rendering causes crashes is down to poor programming.
